Description
Leadership is of great importance to human kind to get the right direction to fulfill one’s objectives. According to Armstrong, “leadership is a process followed by the leaders to influence the followers through the power and legitimate authority acquired by a leader” (Schein, 2010). A true leader uses his/her inherent qualities and the learning experiences to achieve his/her goals and also constantly instills values and ethics in the followers and influences them to identify their inherent qualities and utilize them to achieved shared goals. Leadership has evolved significantly due to changes in attitude, environment and intellectual level of people (Kouzes & Posner, 2007). There are different styles of leadership, which influence the people with different values, beliefs and norms. Today, the leaderships style has moved from autocratic style to more of democratic and transformational style, where the leaders empower and work as a team with the followers to achieve the shared objectives. The paper discusses the leadership skills of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Prime Minister and Vice President of United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai who has contributed significantly towards the development of Dubai and United Arab Emirates. The paper also discusses the strengths, weaknesses and style of his leadership, which led to the various achievements and issues in his career.
