- This is the coursework assignment for the Integrated Systems Management module.
YOUR TASK
Review the information in this case study addressing, for example, the following issues:
What is your overall perception of the company?
What are the main operational problems and their likely causes?
What further information would you need?
What recommendation for improvement would you make to management?
A problem may be defined as a deviation from a standard performance. It is suggested that you should complete a problem-solving sheet for each particular problem which you have identified, so as to reach:
A composite list of problems.
The most likely cause of each
A composite list of possible solutions to each one leading to your overall integrated solution
You should then present a diagnosis and recommendations.
Remember, no case study, however detailed, could incorporate all the information you could possibly need. Therefore you should first ask the module leader for any further information, but if that is not forthcoming then be prepared to make any necessary assumptions. There is no harm in making assumptions provide that they are specifically stated. However, difficulties in resolving this case may occur if unstated assumptions are acted upon.
You should prepare a detailed and discursive report which identifies the problems within the company and provides possible solutions to these problems by employing systems design and implementation methodologies to all operational issues. These solutions should incorporate aspects of total quality culture and an approach to modernising the IT/ information management infrastructure. An appropriate, generic, critical appraisal should be included as part of your report. Also, provide suggestions of how you could apply a range of tools and techniques (studied as part of the module) to help you analyse the company and/ or implement the required changes.
