The assignment examines the main information technology practices which have evolved in the last decade and how this “change” affected management practices in various industries around the world. This change brought about an increased communication, globalization of businesses, product variety and helped organizations to look beyond their walls for collaboration. The review targets how these practices helped in achieving organizational success with a competitive advantage. The change aroused a lot of questions leading to “resistance” like implementation difficulties, lack of trained personnel, risk management and how it influenced the way managers think about their businesses and partnerships. This paper also explores why managing the change is termed critical because wrong decision making can lead to downfall of an organization and the importance of “leadership” in promoting change management.
