The Hospitality industry is a one of the most important employers in the world. The hospitality industry is a service oriented industry in which the employees play an important role. The hotel industry has experienced very high employee turnover which is a major concern for the companies within the industry.
In this report an attempt is made to critically study the concept of employee retention as a Human Resource Policy. In the modern day organization, it is very essential for the companies to manage and retain their employees. It is so because the employees are the assets for a company. The companies spend huge amounts in recruiting and selecting employees. Other than this the companies also spend in training and development of the employees. Thus, if the company fails to retain the employees than it has to bear the costs for hiring new employees. This adds to the costs of the company. Thus retaining employees in an organization is very essential for the companies today.
This study on employee retention is carried out on the hotel industry in Australia. It is very challenging for the hotel industry to retain the employees. The employee retention policies have a strong impact of the performance of the companies.
