In today’s world, switching jobs is a highly common phenomenon in all sectors. Professionals working in different levels of industries shift to other companies in order to get a better position, better salary, and other perquisites. Commitment towards one’s job or company seems rare nowadays. In spite of being salaried employees, most professionals work like freelancers and are not attached deeply to any company. If they find a better option, they will not hesitate to quit their present jobs. This lack of commitment towards one’s job does not imply that the employees are not sincere in their work. They merely want to keep their options open. This factor has been caused by different methods implemented by the companies in order to maximize productivity and minimizing costs.
Thousands of experienced and qualified people lost their jobs during recessions. These people were dedicated professionals and many of them had committed their entire lives to working for their respective companies. Yet, they get laid off. This fact sends a clear message to all professionals in the world. Organizations value only skills and professionalism. There is no value of emotions and commitment. Most companies have shifted focus on the performances of employees. These days, it is impossible to survive in the corporate environment unless a person performs well. Past successes, good performances, and achievements are of no good if, for some reason. A professional fails to do his job properly at present.
